How to copy a special character
- Pick a group such as Arrows or Math.
- Click a symbol. It is copied right away and also added to the box below, so you can collect several.
- Paste it where you need it with Ctrl+V or a long press. Symbols you used appear under Recent next time.
How it works
Every symbol here is a standard Unicode character, the same kind of character as a letter, so it can be pasted into documents, chats, spreadsheets, social posts and file names. We collected about 460 symbols in 11 groups, from ★ and ✓ to ℃, ㎡ and ①.
Fancy text turns Latin letters and digits into look-alike characters from Unicode’s Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block. That’s why 𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐝 or 𝓈𝒸𝓇𝒾𝓅𝓉 survive pasting into places that don’t allow formatting, such as profile bios.
What we checked
A few letters are missing from those Unicode blocks because they had already been encoded elsewhere; the italic h, for instance, is ℎ (U+210E) from the Letterlike Symbols block. The tool fills those gaps automatically, so every letter converts.
We also checked what happens with non-Latin text: Korean, Japanese and accented letters such as é are left as they are, because those styled versions don’t exist in Unicode.
When to use it
Adding ✓ and ✗ to a checklist, → to step-by-step instructions or ★ to a rating. Writing ℃, ㎡ or ± in a report when your keyboard has no key for them. Typing € or ₩ on a keyboard set up for another country. Making a social bio or nickname stand out.

Limits
- How a symbol looks depends on the font of the app where you paste it. Rare symbols may show as an empty box if the font lacks them.
- Fancy text is not real formatting. Search engines and screen readers may not read it as normal words, so don’t use it for names, links or key information.
- Emoji shapes differ between Apple, Google, Microsoft and Samsung devices.
Frequently asked questions
How do I copy a symbol on a phone?
Tap it once. It is copied immediately, and a short message confirms it. Then long-press where you want it and choose Paste.
Where are my recent symbols stored?
Only in this browser (local storage), so they’re there next time you visit. Clearing site data removes them.
Why does a symbol show as a box?
The app or font you pasted into doesn’t include that character. Try another font, or pick a more common symbol.
Can I use fancy text on Instagram or X?
Yes, it pastes as plain characters. Keep in mind that it may be harder to search for and to read with a screen reader.
