How to use the timer
- Choose Timer, Stopwatch or Pomodoro.
- For a timer, set hours, minutes and seconds or tap a preset. Press Start.
- When time is up you hear an alarm and the tab title shows ⏰. Use Full screen for a classroom or meeting room.
Why it stays accurate
Browsers slow down pages in background tabs to save battery, so a timer that simply counts ticks drifts. This one stores the moment it should end and compares it with the clock each time it updates, so it shows the right time as soon as you look again, and the alarm still rings when you’re in another tab.
The stopwatch uses the browser’s high-resolution clock and records laps with the split and total time. The remaining time also appears in the tab title, so you can see it while working elsewhere.
The Pomodoro rhythm
The Pomodoro technique, developed by Francesco Cirillo, alternates 25 minutes of focused work with a 5-minute break; after four rounds you take a longer 15-minute break. The timer moves through the phases automatically and plays a short sound at each change, so you don’t need to watch the clock.

Limits
- Browsers only play sound after you’ve interacted with the page, so press Start yourself rather than relying on an auto-start.
- If the device goes to sleep, the alarm can’t ring until it wakes; the display then shows the correct time.
- Closing the tab stops the timer. Nothing is saved on a server.
Frequently asked questions
Will the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. It’s based on the end time, not on counting ticks, so it stays correct in the background and the alarm still sounds.
Why didn’t I hear the alarm?
Check that Sound is on and the device isn’t muted. Some phones block sound from web pages in silent mode.
Can I change the Pomodoro lengths?
Yes. Set the focus, short break and long break minutes before you start.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, the timer runs entirely in your browser.
