How to rotate or crop a PDF
- Drop a PDF on the page or click Choose file.
- Tap pages to pick them (or leave none for all), then rotate or enter margins in mm.
- Check the preview and click Save PDF.
How rotation and cropping work
Rotation is stored as a page setting, exactly like a PDF viewer’s “rotate” button but saved for good, so it’s lossless and instant. Cropping sets the page’s crop box: viewers and printers show only the area inside it.
You enter margins as you see the page on screen, even after rotating it, and the tool converts them to the page’s own coordinates. The dark overlay on each thumbnail shows exactly what will disappear.
What we measured
Rotating all 100 pages of a test PDF by 90° and trimming 10 mm from every edge took 0.04 seconds to save in Chrome on a 4-core test computer. The file size barely changed, since only a few numbers per page are rewritten.
For comparison, tools that re-render pages as images to rotate them produce a heavier file and lose selectable text. This one does neither.
Typical fixes
Phone scans where every other page came out sideways, a landscape table in the middle of a portrait report, a scan with thick black borders from the copier lid, slides exported with wide white margins that look tiny on a tablet. Select just those pages, fix them, save.
Afterwards, reorder or remove pages with Organize PDF Pages, or combine several fixed files with Merge PDF.
Important: cropping hides, it doesn’t erase
The trimmed area is hidden, not deleted. Someone with a PDF editor can reset the crop box and see it again, and text there may still be searchable. Never use cropping to remove personal data such as account numbers or signatures. Cover or remove that content in the original document instead.
Also note: rotating or cropping a digitally signed PDF invalidates the signature, and password-protected files can’t be opened.
Frequently asked questions
Will rotating reduce the quality?
No. The page content isn’t touched; only the rotation setting changes.
Can I rotate just one page?
Yes. Tap that page’s thumbnail to select it, then press Left or Right. Pages that aren’t selected stay as they are.
Why do my margins look different after rotating?
Margins follow what you see on screen. Top always means the top of the page as it’s displayed, so after a 90° turn the tool trims a different side of the original page for you.
Is the file uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser with PDF.js (previews) and pdf-lib (saving).
